Why i have chosen Graphic Design as a career.

Graphic design has appealed to me in many different ways and this is why I am on the path to learn the skills required for a job in this industry for the future. After doing some extensive research I have found my reasons personally as to why I want to pursue this career. The career of graphic design is quite broad in the sense that it branches off into different areas that are also known as being under the branch of graphic design, such as being an illustrator or an animator etc. The good thing about graphic design is that you can specialise in one subject area or you can keep it open so you have a variety of skills. For example I can choose to specify in brand identity so throughout my career that is what I specialise in or I can choose to have a range of skills that will be fitting for any brief that I might be given. Because graphic design branches off into many different fields there will be a wide range of exciting projects that vary from each other as no two projects will be exactly the same. I find this to be a huge plus point as the work will never be the same therefore it will not be boring.
What appeals to me with this career choice is that you have the opportunity to work either for a company or as freelance. With the opportunity to work for a company you can apply for companies that best suit your personality as some companies will require you to learn all the software that they use whereas other companies require just your skills as a designer more creatively. An advantage of working for a company is that there will always be a steady flow of work whereas with freelance this is not necessarily guaranteed.
I see freelance work as being more of a challenge as you have to chase the work and make yourself known to the public. The good thing about being freelance is that you get more jobs and projects that you want to do and will probably enjoy more as opposed to working for a company. I see both methods of work as exciting as each other and I see these opportunities as being down to the individual and what method of working is best for them. For me personally the opportunity to try both methods and make my mind up as to which suits me would be a huge advantage in the future.
About being a graphic designer I like the fact is that it is quite a flexible job as the industry is forever expanding and refreshing itself. Companies are always looking for new, exciting fresh ideas and talent and what appeals to me is the fact that with every job you will seem to learn new abilities as within the design industry everything is always updated and not to look out of time but to be kept prestige and modern.
